Version 108 of the "Google Cloud Platform" PowerPack introduces the Snippet Framework and improves all Dynamic Applications to improve consistency, performance, and reliability.
- Minimum Required SL1 Version: 12.1.2
Before You Install or Upgrade
Ensure that you are running version 12.1.2 or later of SL1 before installing the "Google Cloud Platform" PowerPack.
For details on upgrading SL1, see the relevant SL1 Platform Release Notes.
Before upgrading to version 108, ScienceLogic recommends unaligning the "GCP: Cloud VPN Regional VPN Tunnel Discovery" Dynamic Application from all region component devices associated with their respective GCP discoveries.
The "GCP: Cloud SQL Service Discovery" Dynamic Application is now auto-aligned by Region Discovery, which requires you to remove this Dynamic Application from the Project level.
To disable or remove the "GCP: Cloud SQL Service Discovery" Dynamic Application:
- In SL1, go to the Device Manager page (Devices > Device Manager).
- In the Device Class | Sub-class column heading, type "GCP | Project" to find the GCP Project component device.
- Click the wrench icon (
) for that device. The Device Properties modal appears. - Click the tab. The Dynamic Application Collections modal appears.
- From the list, select the checkbox next to GCP: Cloud SQL Service Discovery.
- Click the drop-down menu at the bottom of the window pane, and select Stop Collection and Remove Data.
- Click the button.
Installing or Upgrading the PowerPack
To install version 108 of the "Google Cloud Platform" PowerPack, perform the following steps:
ScienceLogic does not recommend using version 101 of this PowerPack because of installation and collection issues which can arise in some system configurations. When upgrading from version 100 to later versions, ScienceLogic recommends that you delete your previously discovered Google Cloud devices as well as version 100 of the PowerPack, and then install version 101 or later. This is because the collections and devices present in version 100 are not compatible with later releases.
If you are currently using the Dynamic Applications in this PowerPack to monitor devices, collection errors might occur for one or two polling cycles during the installation of a new version. To prevent collection errors during an upgrade, you can optionally disable collection for monitored devices before performing the following steps and re-enable collection after the upgrade.
To install this PowerPack:
- Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page on the ScienceLogic Support Site (Skylar One > PowerPacks).
- In Skylar One (formerly SL1), go to the PowerPacks page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).
- Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.
- Click and navigate to the PowerPack file from step 1.
- Select the PowerPack file and click . The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.
- Click . The PowerPack is added to the PowerPack Manager page.
Features
This release includes the following features:
- Dynamic Applications that discover and monitor GCP devices.
- Device classes for each type of GCP device that Skylar One monitors, plus device classes for each Region and Zone the PowerPack supports.
- Event policies that are triggered when GCP devices meet certain status criteria.
- A sample credential that you can use to create SOAP/XML credentials to monitor GCP devices.
- A sample credential that you can use to create OAuth2 credentials for generating and managing access tokens.
Enhancements and Issues Addressed
The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in this release:
- This PowerPack now supports the "Low-code tools: rest v104" credential using OAuth2 as the authentication type from the "Low-code Tools" PowerPack. You can still use existing SOAP/XML credentials with necessary adjustments.
- All Dynamic Applications have been migrated to the Snippet Framework, providing a more consistent and maintainable structure for managing reusable content in Dynamic Applications.
- Replaced the example credential included in this PowerPack with two new examples: "GCP: OAuth2 Credential Example" and "GCP: v108 SOAP Credential Example".
- Resolved an issue that prevented metrics from populating for "Google Cloud Platform" PowerPack components, including SQL instances, during data collection. SQL instances now correctly report metrics such as CPU utilization. (Case: 00525880)

Known Issues
The following known issues affect version 108 of the "Google Cloud Platform" PowerPack:
- Dynamic Applications that call Google's monitoring APIs for time-series based data (ScienceLogic performance applications) may experience delay. Google's API is subject to delays that exceed the expected data retrieval latency.
